140 Series is a solvent-based, single component, air dry, Direct-To-Metal (DTM) alkyd enamel designed to provide corrosion protection and a gloss finish in one coat when applied direct to marginally prepared steel substrates. This coating has excellent application properties and forms a tough, glossy, flexible, water-resistant, and corrosion resistant film. This product does not contain lead or chromate inhibitors.

Mixing Instructions

Components Parts by Volume
Power mix product for 3-5 minutes to re-disperse any solids that may have settled during transit.
Additive
  • This product is provided ready-to-spray; thinning is not normally required.
  • If thinning is desired, reduce with VM&P naphtha,
  • or SC 100 solvent, adding no more than 3-5 % by
  • volume for spray based upon required VOC levels.

Special Instructions

Safety

This product contains flammable liquids. Keep away from heat, sparks or open flames. Usewith adequate ventilation. If used in enclosed areas, proper air circulation must be providedand maintained during and after application until the coating is dry. The ventilation must besufficient to prevent the solvent vapor concentration from rising to the lower explosion limit.

Proper handling and disposal of all paint, and paint related waste should be maintained. Useonly fiberglass filters for spray booth operations. Follow OSHA regulation 1910.107 (CFR29) pertaining to spray finishing. Dispose of used filters according to OSHA 1910.107(b) (5)(ii) to prevent spontaneous combustion of waste materials. Information on spray paintregulations and proper disposal may be obtained at the OSHA website www.osha.gov.
